Books to Inspire you – Women in Business

with No Comments

Hi girls,

I just became a member of the LEO Dublin City Women in Business Network in Dublin, Ireland. They have monthly events for the members and yesterday I went to my very first networking event.

I loved it! It was great to met so many strong and successful women at once and be inspired to keep doing what I am doing. I am sure I will learn a lot from them.

The theme of the meeting was “Business Books that inspire” by Aidan Mc Donnell of Synergy Stocktaking (www.synergystocktaking.ie). He recommended 7 books and spoke about every single one.

I now have an extensive and great audio library to listen when running. (Yep.. I love listening to audiobooks when running, music doesn’t do for me. Ahh.. I will run a marathon this year! I will tell you more about soon)

Here are the books he recommended:

  • The E Myth – Michael E. Gerber
  • Good to Great – Jim Collins
  • The Leader that Had No Title – Robin Sharma
  • The Success Principles – Jack Canfield
  • The Green Platform –  Declan Coyle
  • Loving What Is – Byron Katie
  • The Chimp Paradox – Steve Peters

With that in mind I decided to recommend you some books of my own:

  • Three Simple Steps – Trevor Blake
  • A Return to Love – Marianne Williamson
  • Lean in: Women, Work and will to lead – Sheryl Sandberg

Hope you enjoy the list of books.

New ways to Celebrate your achievements

with No Comments

Celebrate life!

This week I was talking with a client, let’s call her Suzy.

Suzy told me all about her challenge to loose weight and most important, how hard it was to keep the weight OFF.

She was explaining she had to find new ways to reward herselfinstead of reaching for food or drink as they might have done previously. Now she had to be creative and find new ways.

So, it got me thinking, then I put a list together to help people that are feeling the same way and are struggling to find ways to celebrate your achievements and reward yourself:

  • 1. Buy some new clothes. Feel good and comfortable with what you wear!
  • 2. Pamper yourself. Go to a SPA and get some massage and beauty treatments done.
  • 3. Do something you always wanted, but for some reason never did.
  • 4. Take a day off and go for a walk. Fresh air will make you feel good!
  • 5. Get a new hair cut. Changes are always good!
  • 6. Do a photo shoot. It will allow you to take a fresh and empowering look at yourself.

Meet your best self!

“Every woman should feel home in her own skin”

Once I read that and everything made sense.

80% of women in the UK and Ireland see their body in the mirror in a different way.. and as you can imagine, they see their body in a negative way. Actually they see their body in the worst way possible.

Most of us are never satisfied with what we got and we are always trying something different… to lose weight, to gain weight, change the hair, the nose, etc. We are trying to be like the girls in the magazines,  BUT you know what!?

As a Photographer I can tell you, the photographs in the magazines are NOT REAL.

One day I was thinking which kind of business I wanted to have, which kind of person I wanted to be.. Then I came across a thing called Boudoir Photography and I feel in love with it.

I thought – Why not use photography (that I love) to help women realise that beauty is unique and we don’t need to try to be something we are not!?

Imagine how much happiness would exist in the world if we all accept that we are all beautiful creatures and all we need is a boost of Confidence!?!?

So I want you to MEET YOUR BEST SELF!!!!

P.S.: That’s how I started The Female Portrait by Valois 🙂
